When the season began, there were no expectations at all on a Raptors team that had lost its best player, Chris Bosh, and was relying on a young core to grow.

And that young core—21-year-old DeMar DeRozan, 21-year-old Ed Davis, 24-year-old Sonny Weems, 25-year-old Andrea Bargnani and the relatively grizzled 29-year-old Jose Calderon—has done almost as expected so far.

Yes, they reached the halfway point of the season with a 13-28 record, right about where many so-called experts had pegged them but below their own lofty ambitions.

But they have been entertaining and at times infuriating.
