Players who have scored the most points in one game in NBA history (Associated Content)

The team I root for in the NBA is the New Jersey Nets. As a kid I can remember the nights when Mike Newlin poured in 52 points in an OT game vs the Boston Celtics in 1979 and when Ray Ray Williams scored 52 vs the Detroit Pistons in 1982. In more recent times Vince Carter poured in 51 vs the Miami Heat in 2005. But those are the highest point totals ever by a New Jersey Nets player in one game. While those games were impressive and fun to watch none of them come close to being the most points ever scored by a player in one game.
