Fear the Beard.

The Magic have begun a team-bonding type gimmick they say they will continue until the season ends, a no-shave policy by all members of the team.

The Magic will go to New York Monday riding a five-game winning streak, confident they could be a bearded team before their season ends. It's a hockey tradition they hope they can carry all the way to the NBA Finals.

"We talked about doing something as a team," said Magic center Dwight Howard. "We thought about bald heads, but some of us—me included—don't look so good bald. So the beard is the only way to go."

The Magic (47-26) have begun cranking up the intensity after a mid-season lull. They still aren't playing as well as they'd like, but they are winning anyway.
