After the New York Knicks play their brother-borough, cross-river, interstate rival, the New Jersey Nets (March 30), they gear up for arguably their most important game of the 2010-2011 regular season...a game LeBron James might have actually helped them win. The Miami Heat lost to James' former team, the Cavaliers (March 29), and bedlam broke loose in Cleveland. High-fiving, chest-bumping, screaming fans joined ebullient players and coaches as they relished this unlikely victory.

Even when a game is seemingly lost, it can still be won behind clutch three-point shooting. What NBA fan could ever forget the closing moments of game 1 of the 1995 Eastern Conference Semifinals at Madison Square Garden? The Charlotte Bobcats are not a team that has spent a great deal of time in the playoffs. After beating the Boston Celtics and the New York Knicks consecutively, the Bobcats are only one game out of the last playoff spot in the East.

These are the ten youngest players in the NBA today. Not long after its creation the NBA created a rule saying that players were not eligible to be drafted until their four years of college eligibility was up. This rule stayed in affect until Spencer Haywood sued the league and won a Supreme Court decision 7-2 in his favor in 1971. The NBA then allowed hardship cases to enter the draft and the league. Though the Houston Rockets are one of the NBA's highest-scoring teams, they relied on defense and rebounding to beat the Charlotte Bobcats on Wednesday night. Denver Nuggets vs. Detroit Pistons fan reaction: the tats win it (Associated Content)

What is this, 'score 1000 points in the (pick a quarter) against the Pistons ' season? Well, in the game Saturday night, March 12, 2011, it sure did look like it. As someone who has been following the Detroit franchise for some time now, it is really irking me how other teams are wiping up the floor with them. The Pistons are clearly not playing with any heart as of late, but that does not mean other teams should just write them off like they are nothing either.

Fan's take: Atlanta Hawks must part ways with Josh Smith as on-court negatives outweigh potential (Associated Content)

I was happy to see the Hawks take a chance on Josh Smith seven years ago, but the Hawks must decide whether keeping Josh Smith is hindering the team's future in 2011. Smith entered the NBA right out of high school and in retrospect I believe it was a mistake for this team to have drafted Smith. Smith has a history of clashing with former Hawks' coach Mike Woodson and has had similar run-ins with current coach Larry Drew. Drew has been less combative and allowed Smith more leeway to do what he want on the floor which includes shooting three-point...

Detroit's newest starting lineup worked about as well as the previous 18, so coach John Kuester turned to his backups for a fourth-quarter rally. Most minutes played in a game in NBA history by player (Associated Content)

There are 48 minutes in every NBA game in regulation. Each overtime played is another 5 minutes. Obviously the more overtimes played the more minutes a player can play in a game. The longest game in NBA history took place on January 6, 1951 when the Indianapolis Olympians defeated the Rochester Royals 75-73 in 6 overtimes. So that game lasted for 78 minutes. It's possible a player or players from that game played enough minutes to make this list but there is no record of that I am aware of.

Raptors Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)

Raptors rookie Ed Davis has had some promising moments this season. But he hasn't had a game where he's had either 10 points or rebounds in five games, and coach Jay Triano has given a lot of his time to the other three bigs on the team—Andrea Bargnani, Reggie Evans and Amir Johnson.

In a perfect world, Davis would be giving the team enough when he's on the floor to warrant staying out there, but that's not happening as much as the coach would like it to.

"I do," Triano said when asked if he'd like to let Davis play through a few more mistakes than usual, "but I also want to win basketball games and if I don't think he's helping us, we've got Amir getting healthy, we've got Reggie who is playing very well and we want to keep taking a look at Alex when Alex gets...

Fan take: The Knicks schedule - Where will they be after the next ten games? (Associated Content)

It's time to take a look at the next ten games for the New York Knicks. My first two attempts at this exercise were remarkably accurate. I first applied my crystal ball to the 13 games concluding at the end of February and the Knicks won seven and dropped six as I predicted. And then, the next ten mercifully concluded with a 5-5 record, also as I had forecast. To be fair, the NBA is as predictable as the daily sunrise, unless the Knicks are playing the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The National Football League (NFL) owners recently locked out the players, effectively shutting down the game of professional football in America, because of a dispute over certain issues in their collective bargaining agreement (CBA); which needed to be renewed. Derogatory comments by both sides in the dispute are seen by many as preventing any real negotiations, and if it continues, the 2011 season could actually be in jeopardy. The NFL isn't the only major sports organization that is facing those issues, though.

LeBron James struggled during the March 16 encounter with the Thunder, going 8-for-21 from the field.

The Portland Trail Blazers have been so thin at the center position this season that they've played entire games without one on the floor. Coach Nate McMillan seems to have gotten used to the idea, enough that he moved center Marcus Camby out of the starting lineup in favor of forward Gerald Wallace for Portland's March 15 victory over the Dallas Mavericks. The three-forward starting lineup seems to have worked, as the Blazers pulled out a 104-101 victory over the Mavs to halt a two-game losing streak.

Nudging aside the recent horrific losses for a moment, I think it is incumbent upon the Knicks to establish a home identity so that Madison Square Garden can serve as a comfort zone.
