Chauncey Billups is spending the time before the start of training camp trying to recruit Carmelo Anthony.

While the Nuggets' recently hired executive vice president of basketball operations, Masai Ujiri, is trying to convince the star forward to sign a three-year, $64.7 million extension offer that is on the table, so is Billups.

"Everybody knows that I want Melo to be a Nugget, and I would love for me to be a Nugget for the rest of my career and finish with him," Billup said. "(The quest is to) hopefully keep Melo in Denver."

Billups pretty much was out of the loop with Anthony during the latter part of August and the first part of September. Billups was winning a gold medal with Team USA at the FIBA World Championship in Turkey and Anthony, who has gotten into...
