Knicks Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)

False alarm. But what an alarm it was for Knicks fans.
When the Knicks announced that Isiah Thomas was coming back to the team as a consultant, the response was universally negative.
But the NBA didn't approve, either. League rules forbid anyone employed in the basketball operations department of an NBA team from having any contact with draft-ineligible players. Thomas obviously has such contact with such players in his role as head coach at Florida International University.
Thomas' opinion is still valued by Knicks chairman James Dolan even though the team floundered while Thomas was there and even though his sexual-harassment suit cost the team $11.6 million.
A series of public statements from the Knicks and the league Aug.
