So much for all those rumors, all that drama and all of those trades that were supposed to happen.

Josh Smith went to bed on draft night the same way he woke up, a member of the Hawks.

"It is what it is," said Smith, whose name surfaced in rumors before, during and even after the draft. "I'm going to keep doing what I do every year, and that's working like crazy to make sure my team plays at the highest level every night."

Keith Benson was the Hawks' only pick in the draft, No. 48 overall. It was a solid second-round pick for a team always in need of fortification in the frontcourt.

The 6-11 Benson does need some time to bulk up his 224-pound frame. But since there is no telling when the 2011-12 season will officially begin, courtesy of the miles of distance...
