Rick Adelman's five-year reign as head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers marked one of the more successful stretches in franchise history. Adelman rose from an assistant coach to the leader of a team that won two conference championships in a span of three seasons, and was later fired for not bringing the ultimate prize to Portland, a move that was difficult for Blazers fans to understand, particularly considering the embarrassing mess that followed Adelman's departure.
